What is a body lift?

The body-lifting or circular lipectomy is a heavy surgical procedurethat corrects the aesthetics of the body by removing excess skin and fat from the trunk of the body. The goal is to regain body harmony.

Body-lifting: the procedure

A general anesthetic is necessary. The surgical incisions will be made at hip level, under the upper end of the underwear, so that the scar is as discreet as possible. The doctor often performs a liposuction and then removes the excess skin.

Post-operative period

The procedure requires a hospital stay of about 3 to 7 days. You may experience fatigue and pain. You may experience bruising and inflammation in the treated area. These will gradually disappear. You will most likely need to wear a compression girdle for the first 4 to 6 weeks.

You will need to avoid sports and physical activities for a few weeks.

Direct exposure of the scar to the sun should be avoided for at least 12 months. You can return to work 4 to 6 weeks after the operation.

The doctor will give you all the instructions needed for the hygiene of the scar and for a good healing. These instructions must be followed rigorously.

Results of the circular lipectomy

The result is immediatelyvisible but it is only after a few weeks that the swelling will be gone and you will see the final result.
