Botulinum toxin type A is a purified toxin that has been used for decades around the world to temporarily reduce visible and embarrassing facial wrinkles.

At Global Plastic Surgery, we inject botulinum toxin to improve your appearance by making you look younger and more radiant. Your mood will also improve as a result of these changes.

Facial expressions lead to the formation of wrinkles over time. For some patients, wrinkles can make them look older, tired, stern and sometimes faded. You may appear angry even when you are not, leading to emotional and social frustration.

At Global Plastic Surgery, botulinum toxin is generally indicated to treat:

  • Crow's feet (eye contours)
  • Frown lines (frown lines and forehead wrinkles)
  • Neck bands (platysmal cords or baleen)
  • Meso-Botox or botox lift

It is important that you have clear and realistic expectations regarding the desired result.

A healthy lifestyle, a healthy diet and quitting smoking at least one month before the procedure will contribute to a smooth procedure and a good recovery.

Botox injections are performed at our clinic in Lausanne (Switzerland), according to your request and the clinical analysis of your face with the best products available. The injection procedure is performed in the office, it is fast and almost painless.

Depending on your needs, you may need more than one procedure to achieve the desired result.

No special preparation is required.

No downtime is required after the botulinum toxin injection procedure. Some redness may be temporarily noticed in the injection area for a few hours after the procedure.

It is recommended not to massage the injected area for a few hours to avoid migration of the product away from the targeted area.

The botulinum toxin becomes effective after 2 to 4 days of the injection. This time is necessary for the toxin to act and for your facial muscles to relax. Results are visible for 3 to 6 months depending on your body's reaction to the botox. The effect will be longer after several sessions.

The main risk of botulinum toxin in the face is to accentuate pre-existing asymmetries of expression or to generate new asymmetries. These complications are temporary.

During your appointment, the doctor will explain all the possible risks and complications associated with this procedure, even though they are rare. It is only after having discussed with the doctor that you will have all the elements to make your decision.
