The results are among the longest lasting in cosmetic surgery, the bags under the eyes do not reappear, but the skin of the eyelids will continue to age naturally and the skin of the eyelid may sag again, but if it does, it will not be for at least ten years.

How is a blepharoplasty performed?

Blepharoplasty is performed under local or general anesthesia on an outpatient basis. For the treatment of the upper eyelids, incisions are made in the crease halfway up the eyelid to remove excess skin, fat bags and to tighten the muscles.

The incisions are stitched with very fine, non-absorbable sutures that are removed a few days after the procedure.

Can a blepharoplasty be performed without surgery?

In the case of bags under the eyes, surgery is the only way to remove them. In the case of upper eyelid correction, there are non-surgical alternatives. The most effective is PLEXR (plasma exeresis) technology, which will reduce excess skin by means of a retraction effect using plasma energy. Injections of hyaluronic acid or botulinum toxin are also possible in cases of slight sagging of the eyelid. By raising the tail of the eyebrow, these products will also allow the eyelid to be raised moderately. These non-surgical techniques are only effective in the case of minor sagging of the eyelid.
