What is non-ablative photo-rejuvenation?
Non-ablative photo-rejuvenation allows for the refreshment of the skin's superficial appearance with immediate effect. It is combined with the application of specific molecules (retinol, tranexamic acid, resveratrol and vitamin C) delivered by the latest generation of liposomes (fat-based molecules that penetrate the skin and deliver their main active ingredient) for a synergistic action of rejuvenation and deep skin remodeling.
The laser shots create micro-pores to stimulate the production of collagen, elastin fibers and hyaluronic acid to regenerate the skin from the surface to the depths. These micro-pores promote the penetration of the specific molecules with the desired properties (regenerative, anti-aging, anti-oxidant, hair stimulating, detoxifying) applied, after which they gradually close as the molecules are absorbed by the dermis.
Only the essential elements required by the skin are used, there are no preservativesor artificial perfumes, no chemicals or colorants, the risks of skin reaction and toxicity are thus clearly reduced.
Who is concerned by non-ablative photo-rejuvenation?
This treatment is suitable for everyone, at any age, for young and mature skin. It can be used to prevent skin aging or as an anti-aging or detoxifying treatment.
At the Global Medical Institute in Lausanne, the main indications for this treatment are
- Wrinkled and sagging eyelids (non-surgical blepharoplasty),
- Poor skin quality/texture,
- Hair stimulation
- Dilated pores,
- A blurred complexion,
- Superficial wrinkles,
- Stretch marks.
Some cases also contraindicate the realization of this treatment, namely:
- An allergy (to topical anesthetics, antibiotics or other medications),
- Cancerous or pre-cancerous lesions,
- Sauna, steam room or scrub performed less than 72 hours before the session,
- Recent chemical or mechanical peels,
- A tattoo or permanent or semi-permanent make-up on the treated area,
- Weakened, damaged or dehydrated skin,
- Pregnant women,
- Healing disorders,
- The use of self-tanner on the treated area less than a week before the session,
How is the non-ablative photorejuvenation session performed?
The non-ablative photo-rejuvenation session begins with a deep cleansing of the skin. An anesthetic cream may be applied depending on the intensity of the laser shot and the desired result. This cream can be personalized and adapted to each patient according to the indications and phototypes for a customized treatment.
The handpiece with speed control allows for precision treatment and is moved over the entire area to be treated several times. The applicator is adapted to the area to be treated. Thanks to a magnetic tracking system, the treatment is fast and homogeneous and allows an efficient distribution of the laser energy.
Each laser shot is calculated to be far enough away from the previous one to prevent heat build-up and a pulsed cold air is administered simultaneously for more comfort and safety.
The laser can be used alone or with custom-made ampoules of active ingredients, the results being better in this case since the active ingredients are adapted according to the indications, the objectives and the persons.
The content of the chosen ampoule is applied to the area and then given to the patient to continue the personalized treatment at home according to a precise and easy protocol.
The treatment protocols are adapted by Drs. Pietramaggiori and Scherer according to the indications. For example:
- To treat skin texture and complexion: 3 to 4 sessions spaced 2 to 4 weeks apart.
- For facial aging: 3 to 5 sessions spaced 2 to 4 weeks apart.
- For the aging of the body: 3 sessions spaced 3 to 4 weeks apart.
- For the treatment of the eyelids: 2 to 3 sessions spaced 2 weeks apart.
What are the consequences of the treatment?
A sensation of heat may last a few hours after the treatment and it is normal to feel a texture on the skin that will disappear on its own with a desquamation of the skin after 3 to 10 days.
During this time, it is important to apply the selected active ingredient. The treated area must also be washed and dried gently and delicately so as not to damage the skin.
It is also important not to use cosmetics or products containing Retinol, fruit acids or alcohol.
The use of a high protection factor sunscreen (50+) is essential when you go out for about 3 weeks.
What results can I expect?
The non-ablative photo-rejuvenation treatment offers very good results with a more even and radiant complexion, accompanied by a better skin quality and texture.
You will enjoy a tightening of dilated pores and a smoothing of the skin and superficial wrinkles. This treatment of photoaging leads to a true rejuvenation of the skin.
