What is a face lift?

A face lift or cervicofacial lift is a surgical procedure that corrects sagging skin on the cheeks, neck and facial contour. This sagging appears over time. It is related to loss of skin elasticity which, once relaxed, is prone to drooping. Following the facelift, you will regain a more youthful and refreshed face.

Indications for cervicofacial lifting

If you have lost definition around the face and/or neck, noticeable jowls, or have very deep wrinkles on the cheeks, a cervico facialfacelift may be the solution to address these symptoms.

A healthy lifestyle, a healthy diet, and quitting smoking at least one month before the procedure will contribute to a smooth procedure and recovery.

Face lift: the procedure

The surgical incisions will be made around the ear and in the hairline. They will be made as close to the ears as possible to ensure scars are as discreet as possible over the long term.

These incisions will allow the doctor to stretch the skin and tissues backwards and upwards to obtain the desired result.

Post-operative period

The procedure is ambulatory. A few bruises may appear following the procedure, which will disappear a few days later. The face will be swollen for a few weeks. You may also feel some skin tension, which may last a few days after the procedure.

The stitches will be removed one week after the procedure. You will have to avoid sports and physical activities for a few weeks.

You will be able to return to work 2 weeks later.

The doctor will give you all the instructions for scar hygiene and proper healing.

Results of the face lift

The final result will be visible 1 to 2 months after the operation. These results last approximately 5 to 10 years, as the skin remains exposed to normal aging. It can be repeated 2 to 3 times in a lifetime.
