Project Description

Brow Lift

Intro

A brow lift is a surgical procedure that corrects sagging brows that are hooding the upper eyelids. Surgical brow lift gives you a more awake a youthful outlook.

Indications

If your eyebrows are sagging, your upper eyelids are hooded and, as a consequence, you look tired, sad and sleepy, you might be a good candidate for brow lift surgery.

At Global Plastic Surgery, you will be considered as a candidate for surgery if you have a positive outlook and realistic goals for what the selected surgery can achieve. If you are a non-smoker or you quit smoking at least 1 month before surgery, results will be better and achieved faster, while if you cannot stop smoking more complications have to be expected and sometimes surgery will be contraindicated.

At Global Plastic Surgery, surgical candidates commit also to healthy lifestyle, proper nutrition and fitness.

Procedure

Surgical incisions can be placed either in the hair (temporal approach) or directly above the eyebrows (direct brow lift).

The operation is performed under local or general anesthesia in an outpatient (ambulatory) setting.

Down Time

After the operation you may experience some bruising and swelling that usually solves within a few days.

Results

Results become more evident as swelling resorbs, giving you a more youthful and rested appearance. Usually scars heal quickly and are quite discreet. Results are long lasting.

Risks

At Global Plastic Surgery all possible risks and complications will be extensively discussed with you prior the operation date. After the extensive discussions with your surgeon, you will decide whether the potential risks, benefits and potential complications are acceptable to you.

Eyelid Surgery (blepharoplasty)

Intro

Eyelid surgery or blepharoplasty is a surgical intervention to improve the appearance of the eyelids. Surgery can be performed on either upper or lower eyelids or both.

Indications

Eyelid surgery can give you a refreshed younger look by correcting the excess of sagging skin that creates folds and sometimes disturbs vision, the protruding fatty deposits that appear as puffiness through the eyelid skin, bags under the eyes, drooping lower eyelids that reveal white below the iris, excess skin and fine wrinkles of the lower eyelid.

Procedure

The operation is performed under local, intravenous or general anesthesia in an outpatient (ambulatory) or hospital setting.

Incisions are designs in natural creases so that the scars will be concealed in natural structures of the eyelid.

Upper eyelid surgery involves an incision in the upper eyelid fold, which allows for correction of excess skin, protruding fat bags and tightening of muscles.

Lower eyelid surgery is performed with an incision just below the lower lash line or transconjunctival.

Down Time

After blepharoplasty, some bruising and swelling may be present and persist over a few days. Generally, after a few days (5-7) the signs of the operation become very discreet and can be camouflaged by makeup.

Sutures will be removed at 5 to 7 days from surgery.

Results

After eyelid surgery results will gradually become more apparent as swelling and bruising will subside to give you a fresher, younger and more awake look.

Risks

At Global Plastic Surgery all possible risks and complications will be extensively discussed with you prior the operation date. After the extensive discussions with your surgeon, you will decide whether the potential risks, benefits and potential complications are acceptable to you.

Ear surgery (otoplasty)

Intro

Ear surgery, or otoplasty, is a surgical procedure to correct ear shape, position and proportions of the ears.

Indications

Otoplasty can create a natural shape of the ears. If protruding or deformed ears bother you you might be a good candidate for ear surgery.

Procedure

Incisions to correct ears are generally made on the back of the ears. When incisions are necessary in front of the ears, they are made in natural creases to hide them.

The procedure is normally performed in local anesthesia with or without intravenous sedation in an outpatient setting.

A novel technique, called “Earfold®” allows for the minimally invasive correction of ear deformities. At Global Plastic Surgery we are trainers for this new technique that is performed in the treatment room and takes less than 30 minutes.

Down Time

Down time is limited after the otoplasty. A bandage will be placed around your head and left for about 7 to 10 days. A dressing in the ear will be left in place for the same time. Another, lighter band (like a sport band) will be necessary for about 2 weeks days and nights and for a total of 6 weeks during the night.

Slight discomfort or itching after surgery, are quite normal and transient.

With the new “Earfold®” technique, there is basically no down time and no bandages are needed since the first day.

Results

Ear Surgery offers almost immediate results in case of protruding ears and more apparent as soon as the dressing supporting the new ear shape is removed.

As swelling and bruising decrease and internal healing occurs, results are more stable and long lasting.

With the novel “Earfold®” approach, results can be estimated quite precisely before the operation with a simulation that is performed during the consultation.

Result using the novel “Earfold®” technique are immediate and long lasting.

Risks

At Global Plastic Surgery all possible risks and complications will be extensively discussed with you prior the operation date. After the extensive discussions with your surgeon, you will decide whether the potential risks, benefits and potential complications are acceptable to you.

Facelift – Necklift surgery

Intro

A facelift or rhytidectomy is a surgical procedure to improve visible signes of aging of the face and neck.

Indications

A facelift and or necklift are indicated to correct the sagging in the middle of your face, deep creases below the lower eyelids, deep creases extending between the nose and the corner of the mouth, fat that has drooped or disappeared, loss of skin tone in the lower face creating jowls, loose skin and excess fatty deposits under the chin and jaw (double chin), loose neck skin, muscle banding in the neck and loss of the cervico-facial angle.

Procedure

The operation is performed under local, intravenous or general anesthesia in an outpatient (ambulatory) or hospital setting.

Depending on the clinical need and your precise goals, the incision can extend from the temporal hairline, continuing around the ear and ending in the back scalp. In other cases a short scar face-lift can be performed.

Fat and deeper structures are also lifted and skin is redraped over the uplifted contours and excessive skin is removed.

A second incision below the chin may be required to address the signs of aging of the neck.

Down Time

After a face/neck-lift procedure a bandage may be placed around your face-neck to minimize the risk of fluid/blood collections. Thin tubes may be placed under the skin to further minimize this risk.

Full recuperation takes between 1 to 2 weeks to occur. Complete restoration of sport and all other activities may take up to 4 to 6 weeks.

Results

Results are immediately visible and assume a more natural and stable appearance over time as swelling fades and healing occurs.

The results will provide you with a more youthful and rested appearance and will improve your self-confidence.

Results achieved are long-term and no other less-invasive procedure such as fillers can achieve the same level of results. It may take up to several months for incision lines to fade and swelling to dissipate completely.

Risks

At Global Plastic Surgery all possible risks and complications will be extensively discussed with you prior the operation date. After the extensive discussions with your surgeon, you will decide whether the potential risks, benefits and potential complications are acceptable to you.

Nose Surgery – Rhinoplasty

Intro

Nose surgery or rhinoplasty improves your facial contour by addressing deformities of your nose.

Indications

If the shape of your nose bothers you in particular for what concerns nose width, nose profile (visible humps or depressions), nose tip (too large or bulbous, drooping, upturned or hooked), nostrils (too large or wide, or upturned), nose deviation.

Procedure

The operation is performed under local, intravenous or general anesthesia in an outpatient (ambulatory) or hospital setting.

At Global Plastic Surgery, the operation can be performed with an “open” technique that is through a scar in the columella, the narrow strip of skin between the nostrils, or with a “closed” technique that is through a scar hidden inside the nose. The type of incision depends on your clinical situation and your goals.

These approaches allow your surgeon to access the bony and cartilaginous structures of your nose and reshape them to address the main issues.

Down Time

Depending on the deformity treated and type of surgery few days (up to 10 days) splint above the dorsum of the nose and splint or gauze packing will be placed in the nostrils to assist healing in a proper direction.

Normal activities can be resumed quite quickly (a few days) after surgery. Sport and more strenuous activities might need more than 6 weeks to be restarted.

Results

While initial swelling fades away quite quickly, it might take up to several months (up to a year) until final results to become apparent revealing the new nasal contour.

Results are stable and long lasting.

Risks

At Global Plastic Surgery all possible risks and complications will be extensively discussed with you prior the operation date. After the extensive discussions with your surgeon, you will decide whether the potential risks, benefits and potential complications are acceptable to you.
